The Blog Commandments

BY: admin

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my readers, visitors, links for their wonderful comments. It’s really nice to read your comments. It makes me wanna blog more– blog better! So, keep them coming. You guys are awesome!

I want to give my readers something new, something interesting and it took me a day to come up with one.

Behold: The Blog Commandments

  • Thou shall not steal contents from other sites/ blog. Ask for the owners permission and provide a link back to the author.
  • Thou shall not open facebook while blogging. (I think you know why I said this– Farmtown, Petso, YoVille).
  • Thou shall respect others opinion.
  • Thou shall not torture your readers (uber long entries= torture).
  • Thou shall return comments.
  • Thou shall visit the links on your blogroll.
  • Thou shall update your blog twice a week or once a week.
  • Thou shall be honest! (Please refer to my Top 3 Unwanted Blog Visitors entry)
  • Thou shall use eye friendly theme.
  • Thou shall not text speak/ LOLspeak.
  • Thou shall not use sTiCkY CaPs!
  • Thou shall not use loads of  plugin. ( It affects page loading)
  • Thou shall be friendly. :)
  • Thou shall write in correct English/Filipino grammar- from Nagashiko

So yeah! That’s pretty much everything, no? If you want to add more, lemme know by posting a comment and I’ll update this list. I’ll provide a link back to your site, ofcourse! :)

Free Domain Name

BY: admin

So you want to start a site or a blog and you want a cool domain name but you dont have enough money to buy a .com, .org or .net domain name? Worry, not! I’ve a list of cool sites that provide free domain name. Url redirection, DNS management.. its free!

1. Co.Cc- yes babe, its my top pick! It’s short and its cool! Just sign up and you’re ready to set it up.

2. Uni. Cc- its like co.cc. Well, its one letter longer (hardy harhar). Still great though.

3. Co.Nr- Unlike the first two sites, Co.Nr provides only redirection. This is great for starters who doesn’t know how to setup DNS.

Top 3 Unwanted Blog Visitors

BY: admin

As a blogger, it’s good to know that someone’s actually visiting your blog and reading your entries. Come on, you! You dont blog because of nothing, right?

Visitors, commentators.. they motivate you. They make you want to blog more. But you know what? Not all of them are, well, wanted or welcome or whatever you want to call it. They are what we call “unwanted visitors“. Curious? Of course you are!

Without further ado, then:

Top 3 Unwanted Blog Visitors

1. Spammers/ Bots- who doesn’t hate bots? They’re the reason we install anti-spam codes and all. They post weird comments. Weird links to weird sites.  Usually, adult sites, casino sites and the like.
How to deal: Ever heard of Akismet plugin, babe?

2. Great Pretenders- “Oh yes, I’m the great pretender Pretending I’ve read your entries.. My need is such; I pretend too much I’m stupid yes you can tell.”  They maybe one of your blog links or affies. They pretend that they’ve read your entry but its sooo not true.  You’ll notice it in their comments. Usually, their comment goes a little something  like this (if not all, some of them):

“Thanks for sharing. Got a new Post!”

“Cool!”

So why do they post comments? Because they want you to return it. Clever, eh?
How to Deal: There are several ways to deal with this meanies:

a. Copy the comment they’ve posted, visit their blog paste that comment and then submit. Comment returned. :-)

b. Blog about it. But dont drop the name. Just give a few hint, clues..

c. Be Frank. Talk to that meanie.

d. Ignore them, don’t return the comment.

3. Rippers/ Stealers- these people lack creativity, talent and originality. They rip layouts and use it without asking for the owners permission. They copy blog entries without providing a link back to the original author.

How to Deal: Blog about it. Warn your blogger friends. Drop the name. Drop the site url.
